Michael Belch, PhD

Marketing

 

Dr. Belch is Professor of Marketing at San Diego State University (SDSU) where he teaches Integrated Marketing Communications. In this capacity, Dr. Belch has received numerous Outstanding Professor awards. He has also taught in France, Spain, China, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Slovenia, and the Netherlands. Dr. Belch is also a Visiting Professor at the University of California, Irvine.

Dr, Belch has co-authored numerous articles in academic journals on advertising, consumer behavior, and international marketing. Additionally, he co-authored with his brother Dr. George Belch, the number one Integrated Marketing Communications textbook: Advertising and Promotion: An Integrated Marketing Communications Perspective, now in its eleventh edition.

Dr. Belch’s experience outside academia includes serving as a consultant to a number of Fortune 500 companies including McDonald's, Whirlpool Corporation, Senco Products, GTI Corporation, IVAC, and the May Companies, as well as to advertising agencies including Phillips-Ramsey and Dailey & Associates.  In addition, he has served as a Marketing Expert Witness in several litigation cases.

Professor Belch received his Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh, his MBA from Drexel University, and his BA in Marketing from Penn State.
